Irving Materials Operations Garner IMAA Awards

The Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association (IMAA) announced that 19 Irving Materials Inc. (IMI) aggregates locations have received its “Excellence in Mining” (EIM) Award for 2015. It also presented the Certified Aggregate Producer Program (CAPP) Award to IMI Peru from the Indiana Department of Transportation for the Fort Wayne District.

The awards were presented at the IMAA Winter Workshop meetings in Indianapolis on February 3 at the JW Marriott.

The EIM Awards are presented each year to IMAA producer member companies that excel in the following categories: Environmental Programs, Safety Programs, Employee and Community Relations. These awards are sponsored by the IMAA Public Information and Education Committee to promote pride in the programs at local plants and quarries. Gold and silver recipients are recognized.

The CAPP Awards are given to producers who exceed INDOT specifications. Certified producers go through a process that includes an INDOT audit, cooperation with the state road projects, and a commitment to quality.

The locations cited for EIM Gold Stars were Anderson, Bluffton, Cambridge City, Connersville, Corydon, Fall Creek (Fortville), Greenwood, Huntington, Luray, Marion, McCordsville, Montpelier, Muncie, Pendelton, Peru, Pipe Creek Junior (Swayzee), Plymouth, Sellersburg and Stony Creek (Noblesville).

In addition to these awards, the IMI Bluffton and IMI Marion stone quarries were recognized with Nine Year Safety Awards for being incident free during that time period. The IMI McCordsville location was recognized with a Five Year Safety Award.

“We are very proud of the work of our people. These awards are a testimony to their hard work,” stated Bob Haldrup, president of IMI North.

IMI operates limestone, gravel and sand mining facilities across Indiana and ready mix concrete plants in five states (Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.)
